As an endeavour to bring people from all walks, interests, and ethnicity come together in ways that stimulate lifelong learning, and community interaction inaugurated the SPIC MACAY’s IIT Bhilai chapter at the institute. SPIC MACAY’s intention is to enrich the quality of formal education by increasing awareness about different aspects of Indian heritage and inspiring the young mind to imbibe the values embedded in it. For this, the most accomplished artists of the country would render programmes of Indian classical music and dance, folk, poetry, theatre, traditional paintings, crafts and yoga at IIT Bhilai premises.

The evening began with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony. This was followed by an orientation session by SPIC MACAY Chhattisgarh coordinator Mr. Ajay Srivastava who briefed students and faculty about the structure and functioning of the organization.

On this occasion, IIT Bhilai fraternity was treated to some great music by nationally acclaimed Sufi maestro, Padma Shri Bharti Bandhu Ji. He is famous for the singing of Kabir's Bhajan and for his unique style he has been awarded by the prestigious Padma Shri award by Govt. of India. The mellifluous renditions by Padma Sri Bharti Bandhu captivated the audience who were in a state of trance. The rendition was made more charming by a couple of anecdotes he narrated which heightened the effect of the soothing musical night. The program was organized by the SPIC MACAY Heritage Club.

SPIC MACAY would promote a vibrant campus experience by organizing innumerable activities pertaining to the performing arts and cultural activities to help students keep in touch with the rich cultural values, customs, and traditions of our country.
