Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai is the youngest IIT among 23 IITs. It was established in the state of Chhattisgarh by Ministry of Human Resource and Development in the year 2016. IIT Bhilai is presently housed in its transit campus at Government Engineering College (GEC), Sejbahar, Raipur.
On the academic front IIT Bhilai is innovating and scaling while maintaining quality: we have B.Tech and M.Tech programs in 3 engineering disciplines i.e., Computer Sc. & Engg., Electrical Engg. and Mechanical Engg., M.Sc in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, and Ph.D. in all of them. The academic program at IIT Bhilai is inspired from what is known as fractal academics. The primary motivation is to provide a comprehensive yet flexible learning environment by atomizing courses providing breadth as well as depth, with stress on project-based and hands-on teaching. At the same time the curriculum advocates in favour of courses in Liberal arts and Creative arts to impart a more holistic education.
The training and placement program currently includes the summer internship program of 11 weeks. In summer 2019, more than 150 students of IIT Bhilai were placed in organizations and educational institutes of national importance. Our students have demonstrated their caliber by not only bagging good internships but also qualifying for internationally coveted programs like the Google Summer of Code (GSOC) where they would be working on a project for DBpedia. Major internship recruiters were Robert Bosch, CDAC, VMWare, GSoC, IITs, Carrier Midea, Think Future Technologies, etc.
