Institute Scholarships

IIT Bhilai offers various categories of scholarships to both its undergraduate and postgraduate students. The students of IIT Bhilai are highly encouraged to apply for these scholarships. However, they should carefully read the terms and conditions of each scholarship to ensure their eligibility before applying.

Description:

The students who are awarded this scholarship will get full tuition fee waiver as well as pocket money of Rs. 1000/- per month for 10 months.

The scholarship is awarded based on two criteria. Means and Merit. The MEANS CRITERIA is based on combined parental income of the students. The MERIT CRITERIA is based on the CML rank in JEE for the first semester BTech students and is based on the last CGPA obtained by the student for all other semesters.

Eligibility Criteria: MEANS:

Combined parental income shall not exceed Rs. 5 Lakhs for General Category students and Rs. 6 Lakhs in case of OBC students.

MERIT:

All students of first semester, who are admitted to BTech program of IIT Bhilai. For other semesters, the student should have a CGPA of 6.0 or above and should have no 'F' grade in the previous regular semester (additionally in the summer semester, if applicable).

Other Eligibility Criteria:
• 1. The student should belong to General or OBC category.
• 2. The student should not have been penalized because of unfair means or indiscipline by IIT Bhilai.
  Benefits:
• Students from Unreserved and OBC category with a combined parental income of less than Rs. 1 Lakh will receive a pocket money of 1000/- per month for 10 months (As the are getting 100% tuition fee waiver).
• Students with a parental income between Rs. 1 Lakh to Rs. 5 Lakhs will receive a 33.33% tuition fee remission with pocket money of 1000/- per month for 10 months (As they are getting 66.67% tuition fee waiver).
• OBC students with a parental income between Rs. 5 Lakh to 6 Lakh will receive a 100% tuition fee remission with pocket money of 1000/- per month for 10 months (As the are not getting any tuition fee waiver).
NOTE: The number of students to be awarded MCM scholarship will be limited to 25% of the total BTech students admitted in that particular batch.

MERIT:

All students of first semester, who are admitted to BTech program of IIT Bhilai. For other semesters, the student should have a CGPA of 6.0 or above and should have no 'F' grade in the previous regular semester (additionally in the summer semester, if applicable).

Other Eligibility Criteria:
• 1. The student should belong to SC/ST category.
• 2. The student shoud not have been penalized bacause of unfair means or indiscipline by IIT Bhilai.
  Benefits:

  The students who are awarded this scholarship will be reimbursed with the basic Mess and Boarding Charges as well as pocket money of Rs. 250/- per month. All the benefits are subjected to merely satisfying eligibility criteria.

NOTE: The number of students to be awarded IFS scholarship will be limited to 10% of the total BTech students admitted in that particular batch.

• Non-sponsored M.Tech. Students are paid fellowship for a maximum of 21 months by institute provided they have valid GATE score.
• Ph.D. Students who are offered fellowship by the institute are paid fellowship for 4 years and likely to continue for another year with positive recommendation from the department. The students shall not be on Institute Fellowship in a semester if they are not resident in the campus in that semester. All students who are offered Institute Fellowship by the institute are expected to devote 8 hours per week towards academic and administrative work (other than the research and course-work) assigned to them.
