Indian Institute of Technology, Bhilai celebrated Independence Day with enthusiasm and exuberance. The day began with flag hoisting by Prof. Rajat Moona (Director, IIT Bhilai) at the academic block which was followed by a grand parade.
The chief guest for the event Prof. Moona, addressed the IIT Bhilai fraternity and mentioned the achievements of the institute.
During the event, P K Jain Memorial award was given to Mr. Govind Kumar Arora (Final year BTech student) for his selfless contribution towards the growth of the institute. The student received a gold plated silver medal and a cash award of Rs 50,000. This award is instituted at IIT Bhilai by the generous donation of Smt. Sharda Jain.
Later the entire IIT Bhilai fraternity reverberated in unison with the brilliant display of patriotic songs, skit and dance by students. The family members of the employees of the institute also participated during the Independence Day celebrations at the institute.
The unique feature that holds IIT Bhilai together is the respect for one other's cultures, values and beliefs. The IIT Bhilai fraternity strongly believes that the very essence of plurality lies in cherishing our heterogeneity and valuing our diversity and contributing in unison towards a nation building exercise.
