Drug Free India Campaign at IIT Bhilai

In a move to create awareness on substance abuse- IIT Bhilai hosted Drug Free India Campaign on 19th February 2019 in association with Art of Living organization. Drug Free India campaign at IIT Bhilai was inaugurated by Prof. Rajat Moona who later addressed the gathering. Prof. Moona enlightened the students about ill effects of drug usage on human body and various measures to counter the drug menace. Director AIIMS, Raipur, Prof. (Dr.) Nitin M. Nagarkar addressed the gathering regarding the prevailing situation of drug trafficking and drug addiction in India and measures to curb them.

IIT Bhilai fraternity joined hands in the nationwide movement, as they took a pledge with Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for a new beginning, a pledge for a #Drug Free India: “Na Karenge Na Karne Denge; No drugs - not for me, not for others” which was webcasted at the premises.

As part of the campaign several Indian celebrities including actor Sanjay Dutt, comedian Kapil Sharma, and vocalist Badshah joined hands with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to fight against drug addiction. The Live Webcast of the launch of Drug Free India campaign from Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar was witnessed by students, staff and faculty members of the institute.

The movement empowered the youth and adults with factual information about drugs so they can make informed decisions to live drug-free. Efforts like these reflect the collective will of our society towards a better and healthier future.
