The Central Library has been pivotal in fostering knowledge dissemination and community engagement since 2016. The Central Library is an invaluable resource hub, offering an extensive collection that spans printed materials like Textbooks, Reference books, magazines, and journals alongside electronic resources such as CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs, and online databases. Regularly updated, its holdings are curated to cater to the academic needs of the users. The library stock is increasing at a rate of approximately over 1,000 books per year. It provides access to popular magazines, print journals, theses & dissertations, e-journals, and online databases in Engineering & Technology, Basic Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Management. In addition, IIT Bhilai has subscriptions to e-databases such as SciFinder, Web of Science, and MathSciNet also has a subscription to e-resources, including more than 13000+ e-journals connected on the One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) portal and off-campus access to e-resources through shibboleth access at http://idp.iitbhilai.ac.in/. Central Library maintains the research information management network (IRINS) faculty profiles at https://iitbhilai.irins.org/, which supports faculty members in showcasing their research contributions to their larger peer group.


IIT Bhilai has subscribed to state-of-the-art anti-plagiarism software, Turnitin-Feed Back Studio, and ‘Grammarly’ to maintain academic integrity in the institute towards the improvement of the writing skills of students and scholars through a feedback mechanism. It also has access to plagiarism detection software (Drillbit) from Shodhshuddhi, INFLIBNET Center. Library functions are run on Koha software, one of the most functionally advanced open-source integrated library systems (ILS). Furthermore, an OPAC-based system also helps users track library resources. Users can search books, check issued books, and renew and reserve books. Further, it automatically sends transaction alerts to users and also sends overdue notices as well as reminders.



Library Collection (Print and eResources):

Apart from general books, textbooks and reference books, the Central Library of IIT Bhilai has procured several Scholastic Eresources from IEEE Explore, SciFinder, American Mathematical Society (AMS), American Physical Society (APS), MathSciNet, JSTOR, ASME, ACS,Wiley Journals, Emerald Insight, ACM digital library, World Ebook Library, South Asia Archieve, Current Science. Currently, the Central Library of IIT Bhilai has a collection of about 5700+ books. Library also subscribes to several News Papers and Magazines . For circulation of books, the central library utilizes KOHA open source software. Furthermore, OPAC based system also helps Library users to track library resources.


IIT Bhilai is Life Member of “Current Science Association” of Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore, and receiving the “Current Science” Journal and also member of e-sodhsindhu consortium of INFLIBNET Center.
