The Dept. of Chemistry, IIT Bhilai in association with IIT Kharagpur, IIT Patna, IISER Kolkata, IISER Bhopal, NIT Raipur and VNIT Nagpur jointly organized the 2nd International Conference on “Crystal Engineering: From Molecule to Crystal (CEFMC2020)” on June 19-20, 2020. With a total of over 500 participants from across 20 countries, the conference on material science was a great success. It dealt with a wide range of subjects from pharmaceutical crystals, to the stability of drugs and formulations, and material based applications. The Welcome address was delivered by Prof. Gautam Desiraju (IISC Bangalore) and the conference came to a close with an address by the renowned scientist Prof. Dario Braga (University of Bologna, Italy), along with seminars by various prominent professors from countries including India, Australia, Germany, and the United Kingdom. The poster presentation competition on Twitter had entries of above 100 posters, out of which 10 were awarded prizes judged by top international academics, and sponsored by the American Chemical Society, the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK) and Rigaku (Japan). The postgraduate students who received these awards hailed from countries including Singapore, Germany and Argentina, with the maximum participation from India. Led by the top research intensive institutes of India and adapting to the changing requirements of today’s world, this virtual conference highlighted the importance and relevance of material science and the increasing demand for a global dissemination of advanced knowledge.
