Program equivalency:

This is an online Executive M.Tech. degree program, which is not equivalent to the regular M.Tech. programs of IIT Bhilai. To get a degree equivalent to a regular M.Tech., a student has to opt for a 26‑credit offline thesis at IIT Bhilai after the 3rd semester. The offline thesis will be for two semesters (semester 4 and semester 5). The selection for the equivalency program will be based on qualifying a mandatory offline written exam and an interaction conducted by IIT Bhilai.

Duration:

●        Duration of the Executive M.Tech. program will be 2 calendar years / minimum 4 semesters (online).

●        Duration of the Executive M.Tech. program with equivalency to regular M.Tech. will be 5 semesters (3 online, 2 offline).

Eligibility criteria:

●  Minimum 2 years of relevant experience within the preceding 3 years*.

●  Should have B.Tech. / B.E. / B.Sc. in a relevant field (minimum 4‑year program) / M.S. or M.Sc. in a relevant field (minimum 2‑year program) / M.C.A. (minimum 2‑year program). For candidates applying based on an M.Sc. / M.S. / M.C.A. degree, the undergraduate degree must be in a science or engineering field.

●  In the qualifying degree, at least 55% marks or a CGPA/CPI equivalent to 55% marks is required. For candidates belonging to SC, ST, or Persons with Disability (PwD) categories, this is relaxed to 50% marks or a CGPA/CPI equivalent to 50% marks. To be eligible to apply for equivalency after the 3rd semester, the candidate must have scored the minimum marks in the qualifying degree as specified in the eligibility criteria of the regular M.Tech. program of IIT Bhilai.

*Experience will be computed with respect to the last date for application submission for this round.

Evaluation:

Students will be evaluated in each semester. In addition to continuous online evaluation (quiz/assignment /assessment) in the core and elective courses running in the first three semesters, the end‑semester examinations will be offline proctored examinations.

a. The first end‑semester examination will mandatorily be held at the IIT Bhilai campus and will be clubbed with document verification. Any student who misses the end‑term examination as well as the document verification due to an emergency or faces an issue during document verification must complete document verification during the Compartment/Improvement examination of the first semester. If a student fails to complete the document verification even after that examination of the first semester, the student will be terminated from the program.

b. The end‑semester offline examinations in the second and third semesters will preferably be conducted at the IIT Bhilai campus to give candidates an opportunity to visit and explore the IIT Bhilai campus again. These examinations may be clubbed with other activities such as campus immersion, project team formation, and interaction with mentors/supervisors. Examinations may also be organised at other IIT Bhilai centres (mutually agreed between IIT Bhilai and the EdTech partner), subject to higher demand.

c. The weightage of online evaluation and end‑semester examinations will be in the proportion 30:70. To pass a course, a student must attain a minimum of 35% marks in the total marks.

Compartment/Improvement Examination:

This examination facilitates students who either fail a course or who pass a course but wish to improve their grades.

Terms and conditions for Compartment/Improvement examinations:

a. The Compartment/Improvement examination shall be conducted mandatorily on the IIT Bhilai campus, irrespective of the semester.

b. Any student who wants to improve the grades received in a core/elective course after the end‑semester examination may opt to appear in the Compartment/Improvement examination scheduled before the start of the next semester by paying the Compartment/Improvement examination fee before the notified deadline.

c. Any student scoring an F grade in a course after the end‑semester examination must appear in the Compartment/Improvement examination to attempt to pass the course before the start of the next semester.

d. The final grade in a course will be the best grade between the grade awarded considering the total marks based on the end-semester exam or considering the total marks based on the Compartment/Improvement examination.

e. If a student fails to pass a course even after the Compartment/Improvement examination, an F grade (numeric point 0) will be recorded for that course. To pass such a course, the student needs to again enroll in that course in the next cohort. This will require the candidate to attend all classes and appear for the online assessments, as well as the end-semester/ Compartment/Improvement exams, as per the regular students enrolled in that course. Core courses must be repeated, while elective courses may be replaced with other elective courses not taken and cleared earlier from the respective basket, and based on the approval of the coordinator. For students re-enrolling in a course, a re-enrollment fee will be applicable.

Fee structure:

The total fee for the online Executive M.Tech. program in various disciplines for 4 semesters (excluding optional fees, Improvement/Compartment examination fee, re‑enrolment fee, and any expenses for food and lodging during stay on campus) is as follows:

Advanced Electrical Vehicle System

4,11,000/-

Applied Mechatronics & Robotics

4,11,000/-

Guidelines for fee collection and refund:

1. Only the non‑refundable application fee will be collected at the time of application submission.

2. Based on the application form and submitted documents, applications will be screened by the TeamLease EdTech team. If the application is found eligible as per the approved minimum eligibility criteria, the candidate will be classified as a provisionally eligible candidate and has to deposit 50% of the first semester fee to block a seat and will be allowed to appear in the knowledge test, subject to the application also being found eligible by the selection committee of IIT Bhilai.

3. If a provisionally eligible candidate is also found eligible by the selection committee of IIT Bhilai, the candidate will be allowed to appear in the knowledge test. Candidates selected for admission based on their performance in the knowledge test will be classified as provisionally selected candidates. Such candidates must deposit the remaining amount of the first‑semester fee to confirm their admission before the notified deadline.

4. If a provisionally eligible candidate is not found eligible by the selection committee of IIT Bhilai, or if a provisionally eligible candidate is found eligible by the selection committee but is not recommended based on the performance in the knowledge test, then the deposited 50% of the first‑semester fee shall be refunded within 15 working days from the date of approval of the list of provisionally selected candidates.

5. Fee collection for the second, third, and fourth semesters shall be as per the notified registration dates.

6. Any other request for fee refund will be resolved in accordance with the approved norms of IIT Bhilai for such programs.

Improvement/Compartment examination fee and re‑enrolment fee:

● Improvement/Compartment examination fee of ₹ 2,500/- will be applicable per examination.

● For students re‑enrolling in a course, a re‑enrolment fee based on the following formula will apply:

Re‑enrolment fee = (Fee × Course credits) / (Semester credits)

Here, “Fee” denotes the semester fee of the current semester of the ongoing batch with which the course is re‑enrolled, “Semester credits” denotes the number of credits in that current semester of the ongoing batch, along with which the course is re-enrolled, and “Course credits” denotes the number of credits of the course to be re‑enrolled.

Fee refund policy:

If a student chooses to withdraw from the program of study in which he/she is enrolled, the refund of fees remitted by the student shall be governed by the following five‑tier system:

S.N.

% of refund of fees

Point of time when notice of withdrawal of admission is received

1

100%

15 days or more before the formally notified admission date

2

90%

Less than 15 days before the formally notified admission date

3

80%

15 days or less after the formally notified admission date

4

50%

30 days or less, but more than 15 days after the formally notified admission date

5

0%

More than 30 days after the formally notified admission date

The date of commencement of classes will be considered as the formally notified admission date for a semester and will be notified in the academic calendar and on the admission page.

In case of S.N. (1) above, an amount not exceeding 5% of the fees paid by the student, subject to a maximum of ₹ 5,000, may be deducted as processing charges from the refundable amount. Fee refunds to eligible students shall be processed within 15 working days from the date of receiving a written application.
