Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai celebrated its 5th Foundation Day on August 7, 2020. The chief guest for the event was Prof. Rajat Moona, Director of IIT Bhilai.
Dr. Rishi Ranjan Singh, Assistant Professor IIT Bhilai, gave a welcome address while Dr. Bijay Kumar Panigrahy, Special Administrative Officer, IIT Bhilai updated the audience regarding the construction work being carried out at the new campus. He further elaborated on the futuristic campus through a simulated architectural overview. The first phase of the construction is set to be completed in two years' time.
Shri Anurag Kumar, Project Manager CPWD, was present at the function and he highlighted the initiatives and actions planned for the IIT Bhilai Permanent Campus and said that the design and architecture of the campus aims at securing a GRIHA 5 Star rating for exemplary demonstration of sustainable building material and technologies used.
Prof. Rajat Moona, Director IIT Bhilai, released the “IIT Bhilai: In Press 2019-20” booklet, highlighting the Institute’s achievements published by the press over the past one year. Prof. Moona addressed the gathering and mentioned that the Institute is one of the youngest and fastest growing IITs in India and already stands alongside other established IITs. He mentioned that IIT Bhilai shall be one of the best institutes in engineering, research and education in the future. It will aim to solve some of the foremost problems of science while enhancing the education of students in the years to come. It shall thus strengthen the ideals of new India.
A limited audience were present in the event, exercising all the precautionary measures against COVID 19 and strictly adhering to the social distancing norms. The event was also streamed as a webcast for those who were not physically present.
